"More time, more consistency, happier clients, increased sales, happier life."
Can you tell us how you got started in photography?
Our studio has a split. Christy has a young passion for it through college and going to school for photography. Jasen found his passion while having a background in architecture and viewing photography as his artistic outlet. But it really wasn't until they met in 2009 and shared a passion to make a difference in the lives of families through photography that everything really found it's chemistry for them.
What was the first camera you ever purchased?
Canon, for both Christy and Jasen. Jasen's was a Rebel, but Christy's was even before that. It's still sitting on a shelf at home in our kid's room so that they can play with it.
What's the latest piece of equipment you bought?
Fuji lens for a camera and a little bit of studio lighting gear.
On average how many pictures do you take per shoot?
Most have been in the 300 to 400 range. If we have a large family with dogs on location it will get close to 1000.
How do you find inspiration?
We have the luxury of splitting inspiration. Jasen finds his in the visual world and being architecturally inspired through lines and contrast. Christy finds it in the depths of peoples emotions and discovering what it is that the client values most in their heart.
What would be your dream assignment and where would it be?
Working close to home while helping families discover what means the most to them. . . . and still being able to go home each evening and celebrate what means the most to us.
How do you spend your day away from the camera?
Being outside in the yard with our boys. Hunting for our next piece of mid century furniture. Camping. Disconnecting. . . . . .or simply chasing our next adventure together.
How much time did you spend editing each week before The Image Salon?
10+ hours a week
Why did you decide to outsource? Why did you choose The Image Salon?
Workflow reigns supreme. We have recently grown from 5 to 6 shoots a month, to 6+ shoots a week. We needed a team that believed in the dedication to pull our every ounce of importance from every photograph. It's not about creating a visual "wow". . . .it's the emotional depth that needs to be felt. Image Salon has helped us with that, and allowed us to gift that experience to even more families.
Now that you outsource, how has your business benefited from the extra time you have?
More time, more consistency, happier clients, increased sales, happier life.
