"Beneficial for my soul, my family life, my time! For my soul, it is everything!"
Can you tell us how you got started in wedding photography?
My interested came as early as high school. As an adult, I wanted to work in the industry to get away from advertising. I quit my job and photographed my first wedding the next day (for a friend). I immediately loved the freedom, and never looked back.
What was the first camera you ever purchased?
Canon rebel G (I will always remember Andre Agassi the tennis player was on the box)
What's the latest piece of equipment you bought?
A 24 mil 2.8 because my wife stole my 1.4 haha (she makes video so she prefers this)
On average how many pictures do you take per wedding?
between 7 000 and 15 000
What would be your dream assignment and where would it be?
I'm not a big dreamer, I prefer to live in the present! I have had hideous weddings at the most gorgeous locations and some of the most kick-ass weddings at the most boring locations, so the location does not matter. The couple makes the photography, not the location. Being found by the right couple is my 'dream assignment'!
How do you spend your day away from the camera?
At a park with my kids and my dog or playing video games! Nothing violent, kid's stuff like Mario Bros, just to relax the brain.
How much time did you spend editing each week before The Image Salon?
1.5 days for culling and 2 days for editing IF I am on a roll! Love outsourcing especially when travelling, so much easier! Just cull on the plane and then send my images and don't have to think of anything else!
Why did you decide to outsource? Why did you choose The Image Salon?
Piece of mind, easier when travelling, getting on and off planes, etc. I don't want to be busy 24/7, I've never wanted that. I want to enjoy my days, do not want to be glued to a computer! I chose The Image Salon because I have known Davina and Daniel for so long, I know how meticulous and business savvy they are, I knew the results would be great. I used to use a different company, have tried a few, but they did not offer everything I needed like The Image Salon does.
Now that you outsource, how has your business benefited from the extra time you have?
I wouldn't say my business has benefited because my business has always been random: luck, opportunities , very random. Beneficial for my soul, my family life, my time! For my soul, it is everything!
Thanks for your professionalism and for saving my ass!
