We have been working with Frederik of Valvet since February 2018, editing 100+ properties by matching his established approach.

Frederik was looking to outsource his post-production in order to avoid long work days, and give more of his attention to the actual shoots.
His personal retoucher completes everything in Adobe Lightroom. After applying a starting preset, white balance, exposure, and contrast are all corrected, and architectural lines are straightened as needed. Given the needs in the real estate industry, final images are delivered in 24hrs.

A BRIEF CHAT WITH FREDERIK, of VALVET

What kind of photography do you specialize in?

Real estate & Interior

How many shoots do you photograph?

There are some high periods and some that are a bit slower but I shoot around 55 properties/month during high season and 20 - 30/month during the low season.

Tell us about your editing solution prior to The Image Salon. How much time did you spend editing each week before The Image Salon?

As we all know the editing is pretty time consuming! I would say that I spent as much time in front of the computer editing as I was out shooting. If one property took 2hrs to shoot, it took me approximately 2hrs to edit as well. So during the high season, it felt like I worked 24/7, shooting all day and editing during the evenings. Woke up shooting all day, then editing all night.. repeat.

Why did you decide to outsource? Why did you choose The Image Salon?

Here in Sweden we have these 3 - 4 months of summer, and if we are lucky we have some good weather as well! The rest of the year is unfortunately pretty grey and boring weather. I choose to outsource because I wanted to set time free to live instead of working! To do what I love, spend time with my kids, wife and friends. I chose The Image Salon because they were already editing for my wife’s wedding business, and they are doing an awesome job there. I wasn't looking for a typical real estate edit. I think I shoot a bit darker and more documentary than the typical "real estate look". I had my look and presets and I needed some who understood my work, that had some more artistic understanding rather than just edit as bright as possible with no feeling. The Image Salon nailed it.

Now that you outsource, how has your business benefited from the extra time you have?

For sure I can do a lot more shoots now than before and earn way more some months considering I skip a big part of the editing process. I work exclusively with only 1 client, so my goal wasn't anything other than to have more time to live. That also mean that I have more energy every day and can give 200% at every shoot.

How do you spend your day away from the camera?

Spending time with my loved ones! We love to go on adventures with the kids! The camera will always be there tho... my wife is also a photographer, luckily for me she is the family photographer capturing our everyday life!
